Tatum O’ Neil Arrested For Buying Cocaine

Tatum O’Neil, the youngest winner of the Oscar best actress award and daughter to actor Ryan O’ Neil has been arrested in New York Sunday night. She was reportedly caught by police officers trying to buy crack cocaine and powder cocaine. There are also reports that the former wife of John McEnroe had a crack pipe on her disposal. Alan Garcia, who is the suspected drug dealer has also been arrested and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance.

When O’Neil was approached by officers in the Lower East Side of Manhattan she said to them “Do you know who I am?â€? In a desperate attempt to get out of the situation, Tatum told police “’I’m researching a part - I’m doing this for a part as a junkie.â€?

The arrest of Tatum O’Neil was the result of a police drugs team who were conducting a sweep of an area which is a known drugs blackspot. The troubled actress has now been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Tatum O’ Neil won the Oscar best actress award for her performance on the movie with her father entitled Paper Moon at the age of 10. After her divorce from tennis superstar John McEnroe in 1992, O’Neil’s life spun out of control and she began dealing with a very serious addiction to heroin. Shortly after, she lost custody of her children. It seems that Tatum has not had good role models to live up too, firstly her mother Joanna Moore was an alcoholic, as well has having an addiction to amphetamines. Her father Ryan also had a run in with police last year. Many thought that Tatum was finally off drugs in 1996, after going through rehab for her addition.
